Facility Engineer –

Polymer Compounding Division

 

Position Overview

 

The Facility Engineer is responsible for management of the plant maintenance and building and grounds departments.  The engineer will coordinate and supervise all activities of employees and contractors involved in maintaining and repairing physical structures and equipment as well as maintaining and repairing all production machines and equipment.  Ensures that assignments are performed in the most efficient, accurate and cost effective manner.  Will work with safety coordinator to develop and implement compliance safety training for all personnel.   Facility Engineer will be active in continuous improvement activities using a variety of Lean tools.

 

Main initiatives will include coordination of capital project, machine change outs and will be cost savings program leader for equipment.  Will maintain and improve material handling systems in such areas as carbon black system, oil systems and dust removal systems. Completes the necessary paper work to order tools, equipment, supplies or outside services.  Communicate effectively, orally and in written form, with peers to ensure maximum throughput with the facility. Facility Engineer researches, analyzes, develops and implements new ideas to improve production machines and equipment.  Works closely with representatives from Manufacturing, Process Engineering, and Management. 

 

Involved in safety programs and initiatives within organization.  Initiates appropriate actions for maintaining a safe work environment. Complete timely departmental work-related accident reports and investigations.  Interprets company policies to employees and communicates safety guidelines Initiates time study to PM (Preventative Maintenance) procedure on all equipment.  Oversees that the PM Program is implemented as scheduled. 

 

The Facility Engineer reports to the Vice President of Materials and GM of PCD.

 

Experience Requirements

 

·          Minimum of 3 years’ work-related experience in a mixing manufacturing environment preferred

·          Minimum of 3 years’ experience managing Maintenance Department in a manufacturing environment.

·          Material handling and bulk storage in mixing environment

·          PLC program experience preferred

Education

 

·          Minimum of BS in engineering discipline, advanced degree desired
