Development Chemist

 Position Overview

 The primary function of this position includes major functions of rubber compound research, analysis, recommendations and process design with the manufacturing environment and product functionality focus.  The individual will be involved in analytical chemistry functions, compound development, process development, program planning and corrective action for production activities with compound problems.  The Development Chemist will keep abreast of increasing regulatory requirements such as IMDS and MSDS programs.  Will provide International technical support on formulations, program development and vendor/customer issues.   

 A key responsibility is maintaining state of the art knowledge of technical advances in the rubber compound industry through contact with suppliers, attending meetings and reading publications. The Development Chemist is intended to be a close liaison with compound mixing, molding and preparation personnel.  Must comply with all TS16949, ISO 14001 and safety regulations

 Must be willing and able to travel nationally and internationally.  In addition, will be required to travel between WI facilities on a regular basis.

 This position will report to Sr. Development Chemist/Lab Supervisor  

 Experience Requirements 

  • A minimum of 2 years experience in rubber  molding  manufacturing process experience required
  • A minimum of 2 years of  rubber formulation experience required
  • Mixing experience preferred
  • Experience with FKM,NBR,  HNBR and EPDM preferred
  • Experience in TS16949 and ISO 14001 manufacturing environment
  • Problem solving methodologies experience e.g.  8D, VSM, 5 Why, DOE, Six Sigma,  etc
  • Strong Microsoft Office Skills including Excel and Access

 Education

 Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Polymer Science, or a related technical field
